Ramble On Harris.

I’m off to London for the second time this week to visit the lovely people at Geronimo.

Think i’m going to take my camera up this time and hit the tourist spots once I’m finished so will post some photos up on her once I’m back..

1. Discuss, compare and critique the following forecasting methods, illustrating your answer with examples: a) Statistical and other quantitative methods b) Observation c) Surveys or Focus Groups.

This question went fairly well - had to rush through it as was running out of time but think I got all the relevent points down. Not sure how much comparison I managed, but seemed to go okay.

2. Critically evaluate ‘customer-orientated methods’ of pricing, and the decision tools that can be employed to support pricing decisions. Support your answer with pricing decision making examples.

My final essay - ran out of time on the final section but managed to get down some bullet points about what I wanted to say so shouldn’t have scored too badly.

3. Critically evaluate the main steps and marketing decisions involved in developing an integrated marketing communications plan, elaborating on the decision making tools that can be employed in the process.

This essay went fairly well, managed to draw in some references from previous exams so should have been okay - just annoying that I overran on time…

Sooo!

Probably my worst one so far. In fact, definitely my worst one so far…

I actually traded my exam paper in for a pint of cider at the Woodville, so I can’t even write the questions down properly… Had a look to see if they are on exampapers.cf.ac.uk page yet, but no luck so here they (kind of) are…

1. Critically evaluate how dysfunctional behaviour of customers could affect a McDonalds restaurant.

Not too sure if it was nerves or what but I produced a pretty much stock answer on dysfunctional behaviour, without mentioning McDonalds. *Smacks Head*

2. How can the presence of other customers within the servicescape affect the successful delivery of a service product.

This one went okay. I was able to reference pretty well but was pretty much a knowledge dump and was lacking in any real proper structure. 

3. You are the manager of a new nightclub in Cardiff. Discuss the impact of social networks upon your marketing strategy.

Again, referencing was okay but the piece lacked any proper structure and really wasn’t that great..

Overall a pretty poor exam but only the one left now. Then I can start writing about something a little more interesting than exams! Like shoelaces or bbq sauce.

This paper went fairly well…

3 essay - 

1. “Corruption in foreign markets often occurs. However, so long as our organisation doe not break the law corruption will not affect us” Critically discuss this statement.

- Started with this essay, spent a little too long on it but seemed to get all the main points down. Went fairly well, but didn’t have time to read back through it so probably full of mistakes!

2. Critically discuss the recent trends in China’s outward direct investments. What, in your view, are the reasons behind this new strategy?

- Went fairly well, but ended up a little more like a list of reasons for FDI then a critical discussion. Probably the poorest of the three.

3. Examine the recent trends, origin and sectoral distribution of foreign direct investment in Russia.

-Argued that the Kremlin were to blame for the clear lack of Russian FDI considering it’s vast supplies of natural resources. Ran out of time so ended up paraphrasing near the end, managed to get all my points down though.

Man I’m sick of exams now! Only 6 hours left….

It’s only really just occurred to me the depth of the module’s content in this exam - having such a broad question as foreign direct investment of China could result in so many question titles that it’s EXTREMELY difficult to revise for!

Probably not going to get too much sleep the next couple of days!!
